Who we are
Kate Frobisher and the Urban Pantry Family
After spending time in both Australia and New Zealand, Kate Frobisher was inspired to set up Urban Pantry, which opened its doors in December 2015. Since then, the Urban Pantry team has become more like a family.
Within the first year of opening, Urban Pantry had been awarded TimeOut London's 'Best Cafe in Chiswick' award and was the runner up in The Observer Food Monthly 'Best Cheap Eats' award. In its second year, the cafe won the LUX magazine award for 'Best Cafe in West London' as well as a coveted TripAdvisor 'Certificate of Excellence', which it has held every year since. In its third year Urban Pantry was awarded 'Best Brunch Place in Chiswick' at the TimeOut Awards as well as coming runner-up 'Best Brunch Place in London' at the same awards.
In 2019 we were announced as finalists in the National Breakfast awards and were invited to cook 3 dishes against 15 other finalists. We were awarded the top award of Best Breakfast of the Year for our Cachapas dish.
Kate was named one of "30 under 30 Stars to Watch" in CODE, a renowned and influential publication specialising in the hospitality business. She was also one of five finalists in the "Young Hospitality Entrepreneur of the Year" at the 2020 British Travel and Hospitality Awards, the final of which was sadly postponed due to COVID-19. Kate was also named in the 2021 F:Entrepreneur list "Top 100 Female
Entrepreneurs in the UK" and has joined the network of UK Small Business Owners.
Kate trained at Leith's School of Food and Wine, and then set off to live in Sydney, Australia for a year. This is where she fell in love with their breakfast culture. After finishing her degree at Birmingham University, she returned to work in the hospitality sector in New Zealand, and was again inspired by the fresh food and the coffee culture there.
Urban Pantry have found the finest artisanal suppliers for food and drinks, using Natoora for fruit and vegetables and the Ginger Pig and HG Walter butchers for meat. We have been working with a family business coffee roastery, Capital Coffee, who have roasted a special blend for Urban Pantry and speciality teas come from a social enterprise company who import all their loose leaf tea from India and Sri Lanka and send the proceeds back to local charities in Darjeeling.
Our menu changes seasonally, to ensure we provide the freshest and most local ingredients possible. We also have a range of fantastic specials that change fortnightly, as well as daily changing salads and sandwiches.

We value most: People, Food and Happiness
We love the people of the West London community, both locals and visitors alike. We are proud to call the majority of our customers friends. Further to this, we are also proud to call our staff (past and present), part of the Urby P family!
People drive everything we do, from our relationship with our suppliers to the first customer eagerly awaiting their coffee and croissant in the morning
We believe in the new revolution of food, where customers demand more and want to know where their food is coming from. That's why at Urby P, everything is made fresh in our tiny (but mighty) kitchen, from local suppliers and by fantastic and caring chefs. We also don't discriminate against late risers who turn up and want breakfast at 3PM, we serve ours all day long.
The result of our focus on people and food is happiness. Life in London is hectic enough, we want Urban Pantry to be a little sanctuary away from all the faff!
“The friendliness of the staff spilled over and most of the customers ended up talking to each other”
